The Nigerian Citizen Association South Africa (NICASA) 2023 election wasconducted on the 9th of September 2023, at the Nigerian Consulate inJohannesburg, with a total of 12 positions to be filled. The positions are:President General, Vice President I and II, Secretary General, Deputy SecretaryGeneral, Treasurer, Organising Secretary, Deputy Organising Secretary,Financial Secretary, Chief Protocol Officer, Deputy Protocol Officer and PublicRelation Officer (PRO).

The election was carried out through an open secretballot, ensuring privacy of eligible voters and transparency of the electionprocess. The report reveals that out of the 188 delegates, 152 (80%) wereaccredited to take part in the election. 10 delegates from Eastern Cape weredisallowed to take part in the election due to allegation of non-existence ofNICASA branch in the Eastern Cape Province. The number then dropped to 142.Out of the 142 accredited delegates, 121 (85%) cast their votes for the election.

All candidates and voters had equal access to information and opportunities toexpress their preferences. The election committee diligently monitored theprocess, addressing any concerns promptly and maintaining the integrity of theelection.
